Overland journey from Missouri to California /by Bennett C. Clark, 1849.

The journal describes a trip from Cooper County to Westport, across the Plains to Wakarusa Creek, by the Kansas River, the Big and Little Blue to the Platte, South Pass, Fort Hall, and to the Humboldt and Truckee Rivers. Clark mentions use of both the Ware and Ira J. Willis guides.

Clark, born in Booneville, Missouri, became a clerk of the Circuit Court of Cooper County in 1841, lived on his farm there from 1853-1874, and returned to Booneville in 1878 where he was elected judge of the Probate Court of the county.
